First of all, thank you for checking out our site! I hope you like what you see. MakeShift Photography is a collaborative effort between myself and my wife Erin. Together we work as photographers, print makers and educators. We live and work out of our studio in the historic Deep Ellum district of Dallas, TX. We share a deep appreciation for the photographic process and its ubiquitous presence all around us. In particular, we are quite simply obsessed with a DIY approach to our work, and we strive to get our hands dirty with the entire process from beginning to end. An unending curiosity has driven us to explore not only the latest in digital methods but also traditional film and historical processes as well.
Our creative process is based on a few basic principals: an understanding that as humans we impose significance on everything we encounter – objects, places, personal history; the idea of bringing the outside in; and knowing that there’s so much more to gain from operating with a strong sense of community spirit.
In addition to general photography and making and selling our own art, our studio provides a number of photographic, printing and educational services.
